| Start of Greener Britain week |

This week sees the start of Greener Britain week. All through the week there will be lots of news stories about climate change, the impact of the environment and how it affects us.
There will be lots of scare stories as well as lots of good news stories about what individuals have done or can do and how ordinary people can make a difference to our environment. From simple things like not leaving electrical equipment on standby but switching it off to more fundamental lifestyle changes.
Bioener G welcomes the designation of this week as a signal that environmental concerns should be top of the political agenda. Nowhere is the need to change our habits needed more than in the way we drive. You dont reverse a position that has taken decades to arise overnight but unless you start now things will never change. All of us have the ability to change small things from the type of car we drive to the times we drive at.
If we cut out the school run we could cut our congestion problems by a quarter. If we stopped driving in the middle lane of motorways and used proper lane discipline we could avoid the need for expensive road widening schemes.
The simplest change we can all make is to switch to biofuels whether that is bioethanol or biodiesel and ask for more greener fuels.
Make 2007 the year that Britain that it has a sucessful and green future.
